The Marietta Cobb Museum of Art is pleased to announce an upcoming exhibition of paintings and sculptures by the Atlanta-based artist, Richard Cecil. Cecil’s body of work encompasses painted portraiture, still-life, landscape, and more. Cecil also carries this dynamic approach into his bronze sculptures, where he renders human forms, wildlife, and mythological beings. With an appreciation of art history and traditional art techniques, Cecil states that, “History shows us that no matter what the world has gone through, fine art has played a part every step of the way and I feel an obligation to continue that tradition.” Cecil, however, maintains a sense of individuality and modernism in his work with his distinct usage of color blocks and stylized forms. During the opening reception, the artist will be unveiling his most recent, not-yet-seen bronze sculpture.

The Marietta Cobb Museum of Art is pleased to announce an upcoming exhibition of oil paintings by Carole Pigott, an artist living and working in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Born in Houston, Texas and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, Pigott paints scenes from the Southern and Southwestern United States. Greatly inspired the connectedness of visual art to creative writing, Carole Pigott presents a selection of oils that accompany written reflections by author, Eudora Welty. Also exhibited will be a variety of Pigott’s paintings that depict vistas of the Southwest. A deep connection to nature and a tangible sense of nostalgia permeate this exhibition of some of Pigott’s most moving landscape paintings.
